CIRCUPLAS was also present at the SINTAC stand with its pioneering mattress recovery project, with the clear objective of limiting the dumping of mattresses, sofas and bulky items in landfill. Its mission is based on recovering each of the fractions of these complex products and giving them a second life. In Spain, more than 1,700,000 mattresses are dumped in landfills every year and currently no solution is being found. The CEO of Circuplast, Gabriel Buldú, commented during the fair: “Mattresses that are no longer in use are a very serious environmental problem and we are going to find a solution”. In mid 2022 the first RECIPUR plant will be born with an initial production of 2,000 tns/year but with a capacity to process 6,000 tns/year of recovered PUR cores for the rest sector and for the manufacture of upholstery for sofas, furniture and thermal and acoustic insulation panels.
