By 2030, all plastic containers marketed within the European Union will have to be reusable or will be required to have the capacity to be recycled in a cost-effective way. Furthermore, more than 50% of the plastic waste generated in Europe, will have to be recycled.

The event was attended by, among others, the General Director of Climate Change of the Valencian Community, Joan Piquer; the President of the Spanish Institute of Packaging, Pedro Ballester; and Teresa Sebastiá, coordinator of the area of companies of ECOEMBES .

During the presentation, Joan Piquer, General Director of Climate Change and Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, explained that the new strategy for plastics raises the need to rethink and improve the plastics value chain and promote greater cooperation among all key stakeholders; from plastic producers to recycling companies, retailers and consumers.
